"Little Paris of the North"

Tromso is one of the places on earth with the greatest amount of Northern Lights activity.  This is why Dancing Lights has chosen this magical City for this journey.  We like to say, Tromso is the Northern Lights Capitol of the World.  Travel with us and you will see why! The Northern Lights takes place all year long in all types of weather.  But, it must be dark and the sky clear.  We can’t give any guarantees about when the Aurora will Dance Above You, but half the fun is “chasing the lights”.. Tromso is known as the “Gateway to the Arctic” ocean and only a few thousand Kilometers South of the North Pole.  A pleasant two hour flight from Oslo, this University Town sometimes called, “The Little Paris of the North” is the largest city within the Arctic Circle. Surrounded by breath taking mountains You will be amazed at this Capitol that claims four large fjords, with hundreds of islands, and eight seasons that say good by to the  sun for two months a year.  Tromso is one of the places to capture the dance of the northern lights.  Don’t be surprised while walking the streets, looking up you see the lights dancing above you. On cold starry nights the best place to see the Aurora, is outside the city.  Green rays of shimmering lights move across the sky.

 

You will find charming streets and coffee houses filled with delicious pastries to taste as you watch the people pass by.  Sip a beer with the locals at the Mack which is the most Northern Brewery in the World.  Enjoy fine gourmet dining at Emmas Dream Kitchen  (EMMAS DROMMEKJOKKEN)  you will think you have gone to heaven!  Tromso is filled with a variety of cultural events; featuring, concerts and Film Festival to mention but a few.

Tromso’s rich history is found in their beautiful museums.  Here you will find  comprehensive displays of traditional Sami Culture, the beautiful Aurora, and other highlights of Norway at the Tromso University Museum.  The life and personal belongings of the famous Explorers of the Arctic will be found at the Polar Museum, a fascinating and most informative exhibition  See the incredible marine life at the Polaria  watching the seals play in the aquarium.
